In this series the artist engages with the country's cultural history, working with two of the most recognisable images of Russia. Through the artist's vision comes a hybridisation, a fusion of one of the most recognisable lubok cultural markers, the matryoshka, with the imagery of the Russian avant-garde, the showcase of Russian art of the 20th century.
